About ALEX:
ALEX is an attractive color software game, for children ages 3-5. ALEX has
eight different modules, and helps kids learn to identify letters, numbers,
shapes and colors as well as offering some matching, sequencing, and arcade
style games.
ALEX requires a 256-Color Macintosh, 13" Monitor, 2.5MB HD space, and 2MB of
RAM. ALEX was created using MacroMedia Director, and is compiled in a
projector as a stand-alone application. ALEX is ShareWare.
To register your copy, and have a 3.5" floppy disk (containing the most

A Description of ALEX's Modules:
Numerical Order
On this screen, kid's can click on the numbers shown and they will briefly
highlight and say what they are. If the numbers are clicked in order, they
will stay lit. If the numbers are all clicked in order from 1 to 9 then
there is a reward and the numbers rearrange themselves, so that the child is
actually learning the sequence value of the numbers not just the pattern in
which they are arranged on the screen.
ABC's
On this screen, kid's can click on the letters shown and they will briefly
highlight and say what they are.
Color Wheel
This screen shows colored dots, if you click on one of them, it will turn the
screen that color, show the word for the color and say what it is. (If you
click in the center of the color wheel it will show you the background color,
black.)
4Square
The object of this game is to choose the shape that is different. If you
click on a shape it will say what shape it is, if you click on the shape that
is different, it will say what shape it is and then go to the next screen.
If you get 5 right in a row, there is a reward.
Shoot'em
Just click the mouse to shoot at the ball. It starts black & white and
starts to spin & change colors the more you shoot it.
Hungry Boxes
There are four colored boxes at the top of the screen that spit out a
matching marble. The object is to click and drag the marble into the correct
box. If you drag a marble over a box it will say "Feed Me" and flap it's
flaps. If you put the ball in the wrong box, it spit's it out... in the
right box it swallows the ball & says "Yuummm" If you complete all four the
game starts again.
HowMany
There are a number of objects displayed on the screen. The object is to click
on the corresponding number on the number pad on the screen. If you get it
right it makes a happy noise, wrong it say's try again. You can try
indefinitely. If you get 5 right in a row then you get a reward.
SimonNot!
This is a Simon-like sequence game. You can either just click on the buttons
& they will make noise, or you can play the game. To play, hit the Play Game
button and wait for your turn. Watch which buttons highlight in what order &
repeat the pattern when it's your turn. If you get up to 5 in a row you get
a reward and then the game gets increasingly more difficult as you continue
to win...
Random
Your guess is as good as mine, the question mark button randomly selects a
game for you to play.
